Dre Dre's Case Dismissed
A Detroit judge recently dismissed a $3 billion lawsuit filed against Dr. Dre, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The DVD of the tour, which took place in 2000 following the release of Dr. Dre's 2000 and Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP, features footage of City of Detroit employees having a conversation with people involved in the Up In Smoke tour.

The discussion that took place was regarding the content of a video to be shown during the show, which included both violence and nudity - a video that Greg Bowens - spokesman to then-Mayor Dennis Archer, then-police spokeswoman Pauala Bridges and then-police Cmdr. Gary Brown asked to be removed from the show.

The law suit claims that the conversation was meant to be private, and its filming violated that privacy. Judge John A. Murphy ruled that since the conversation took place in a room with an open door, "the plaintiffs could not have a reasonable expectation of privacy."

The plaintiffs' attorney Glenn Oliver said that he would appeal.

Sha Money XL Speaks on Cashville Records

After reports that Young Buck and Sha Money XL's Cashville imprint would initially go through Interscope, the G-Unit affiliates have announced a deal through Red Distribution for their label. With the deal, Sha Money XL told HipHopDX that it positions them to release at least four albums in 2008.

"2008 is gonna be great. This Red deal is in place, so we’re gonna be dropping records each quarter," said the Queens native producer and manager. The first release will be a label compilation featuring Young Buck, his new act 615, C-Bo and The Outlawz. Although Sha would not yet confirm a full album from 2Pac's onetime proteges, he did speak on their involvement and behalf. "They’re gonna be on the compilation. Those guys are OGs in the game; they deserve a just due. The Outlawz have been shaded because of all the things that happened with ‘Pac and then Suge [Knight] never released them from their contract for a few years till after, when they died down a little bit. The Outlawz never really shot their load off. They did a lot of indies, which was cool, but I don’t think they were marketed well. Those are descendants of ‘Pac – that’s like, you’re still working with The Wailers. You ain’t get Bob Marley, but you still get The Wailers."

2008 will also see another annual One Stop Producers Conference hosted by Sha Money XL March 8 and 9 in Phoenix, Arizona. Thus far, Swizz Beatz is a confirmed co-host, with over 600 producers expected to attend.

I'm disapointed w/ what I've heard from Lupe on "The Cool"....I'll have to give the album it's due when I buy it next week...

My issues are:

There are too many songs. Too many throw away tracks that should have been left off the album

I don't like the production on some of the songs. I would have LOVED to here Ali Shaheed Mohammed produce London, Tokyo to give it a Tribed out vibe...I dont believe the FNF producers do Lupe justice some of the time...

The album initially isn't even close to Food & Liquor. I'll have to listen to it more...Do not get me wrong there are heat rocks on the album. Just not as many as Food And Liquor..Overall quality isnt nearly as good as Food and Liquor...

Did Jay-Z executive produce this album too?? If not, maybe that's a part of the reason for the drop off in my opinion. On top of no Kanye production at all...

I can't agree with you there...

First of all, I'm not pointing this toward you CJ cuz I know you're a smart dude, but "Dumb it down" is the theme song here. I think a lot of this album goes right over the heads of a lot of mainstream hip hop fans...which, in turn, they dont like it...cuz they dont get it...

Secondly, it's obviously a more experimental album, focusing on his own camp, mathew santos, etc. I respect him for not going out and trying to get a swizz beats "drink n my 2 step" beat and sticking to his home sound. I think Paris Tokyo should definitely be the next single just because of its laid back vibe and feel good lyrics...

I think he experimented the same way Kanye did on his new album...how can we criticize this album, if we are calling Graduation one of the best albums of the year?

Beside that fact, he called this a concept album, just like American Gangster...and that's being hailed by some as a great album.

Bottom line, the album is a refreshing look in to hip hop...with substance, lyrics, flow, and quality tracks

The cool is straight heat and I really liked the production, i don't feel that there are really any throw away tracks on the album, the only track that I wasn't really feelin' was Gotta Eat...also, i don't think you can really fairly compare the cool to food and liquor...food and liquor was a classic and had an entirely different spin on it than the cool, the cool is much darker and at the end of the day I think the cool is, and should be viewed as a classic too

Lupe, in my opinion, is the best artist in the game right now, he is a gifted storyteller, and don't dumb down nothing

Personal favorite tracks

Paris, Tokyo
Hip-Hop Saved My Life
Hi-Definition
The Coolest

I really need to get the album and give it the attention it deserves. I had the sloppy audio version playing in my car on the way to work this morning....

At first listen I'm not so sure I all that jazzed up about album. Don't get me wrong -- IT DOES NOT SUCK! Food and Liquor is one of my favorite albums to be released this decade. At first listen of the Cool -- I like and feel Food and Liquor is the more superior album.

I dont think every artist should run and get Swizz Beats or whomever. Production wise for me -- The FNF camp is meehhhh....I dont understand why people seem to want to run away from DJ Premier! Take a listen to the new Show and AG album...there are some knockers on that..premo is one the 1st cut...I just like to see artists branching out w/ their production....not as you say trying to make a drink n 2 step...but there are cats out there who really get slept on who are nasty behind the boards...Check out Dert...download Westside of the Moon...he took Pink Floyd songs and created beats from them! Album is sick! I thought Lupe was after Pink Floyd for this album? What happened there? That would have been perfect! If not, Dert had the beats for him!

I might change my stance on this album after I give it more time and spins. Lyrically, with way over the top stuff, you have to really give it a few spins to grasp whats being said...

I'd give the album 8 out 10 right now if I had to rate it. Subject to change.

The Cool Is Just As The Album Tittle Implies...A Very Cool Album...I Do Agree With Thedaddy That There Are Some Very Slept On Producers Out There That Need To Be Reached Out To More Often...Would Love To Hear Lupe Over A Stoupe Beat...That Dude Is Out Of HIs Mind...After The Lupe Freestyle Over A Stoupe Beat It Makes Me Want More But The Album Is Ridiculous
