Knoc Turn'al - So Cold

DJBooth gets West Coast's Knoc to give up a record for their freestyle series. This one is called "So Cold" and is produced by Dae One.

Memphis Bleek & Suss One - Signed & Sealed (mixtape)

Featuring brand new material from Memphis Bleek. Thanks to Tapemasters Inc for passing this through.

Flo-rida ft. Nelly Furtado - Jump

Another single containing the type of material Flo-rida does best - cookie cutter single material. Whatever gets the women in dance mode I guess...

Also, the video is a little strange because it coincides with the new Disney move, G-Force. Perfect for the kiddies.

Flo-rida was just added to the Forbes list of Hip Hop Cash Kings, earning roughly $6 Million over the past year I guess...or in 2009 thus far. I'm not sure how they got the figure.

Two New Fabolous Tracks

I believe this is a new single off of Loso's Way, since Fab, Keri and Ryan Leslie recently shot the video. I can foresee this doing well. We'll see. Also, Fab snags Leslie for another track, called "The Fabolous Life." Check these out now thanks to TeamSupreme:

Chico DeBarge ft. Talib Kweli - Math

Kweli lends two verses to Chico DeBarge's "Math." Sounding real smooth on this track. DeBarge's album, Addiction, drops next week so be on the lookout for that. Thanks to BMF for the track.

Tredmillin Intv's Daniel Weisman

Treadmillin interviews Dan Weisman, who is both Wale and Mike Posner's manager. Interesting guy.

What about Wale made you sign him in 2006??

He just seemed like a great combination of everything to make the perfect rapper. From DC/MD which is an untapped market. Immigrant parents helps the story. Went to high school with white kids so his world view is slightly bigger. Walks the line between party and conscious. Not a gangster. Very smart. Very savvy. Fearless. I still think he’s the perfect rapper although rap music itself has shifted tremendously in the past 3 years. Urban radio stations are switching to rhythmic everyday. People want their favorite rappers to sing now. This either means rap as we know it is dead or there is a wide open lane for someone like Wale. Ask me the answer to that question in 6 months.

Dizzee Rascal....takes a fall....

*edit...this is UK artist dizzee rascal...not Nas. It was mislabeled when it was sent to me I guess. Fooled me. Still...that's a pretty hard fall...

Aw man...is he serious? Looked like was diving in the audience the way he fell off the stage like that. My lord.

NYC HEADS: GLC Show July 30th

10 bucks for a good show. It's in NYC...at Webster Hall...expect some G.O.O.D. unannounced guests to show up and support GLC...

Drake Explains his Rhyming Style

Via MTV News:

"The balance of singing and rapping has been blurred ever since I did So Far Gone," he said of his breakthrough mixtape. "I mean, I don't really have a formula for that. I don't say, like, 'OK, I can only sing this hook or I want to rap this.' I just really hear a beat, and it's like, 'If I can write to it on a hip-hop level, if I can pen some raps to it, then that will work.' And then maybe after I do that, I'll get in the booth and sing a little part of the verse.

"I like to do that," he continued. "I like to incorporate singing into my verses. And then I feel like it allows people a break from just constant rapping, rapping, rapping, you know? I think it's great to incorporate melodies into the songs that I write. And yeah, my goal is just really to make a song that after I listen to it, I'll just be like, 'Man, people are going to know the words to that.' That's the best thing. I think I'm doing it right, 'cause when I go to the shows, people know the words to the songs, and that's good."

Drake has the video for "Best I Ever Had" out right now and says he'll probably be appearing in front of the cameras for more clips soon.

"There's talk to do a 'Successful' video," Drake said. "Also, you know, I'm shooting the video to 'Digital Girl' with Jamie Foxx and Kanye West and The-Dream. And then there is another song that we have that we might shoot a video for, for the album. So as far as videos go, there is some more potential chances to see [me]."

3OH!3 ft. Mike Posner, Kid Cudi - Don't Trust Me (remix)

This was previously just a 3OH!3 and Cudi production, but Mike Posner jumped on it to remix the song. Thanks to Elitaste.

Ryan Leslie x Officer Rawse

haha, aight, that may be the last time i use Officer Rawse...ehh, maybe not. Anyway, this was supposed to make it on Ross's latest album but did not make the deadline. From this little snippet video, this definitely should have made the cut! I'm going to say it now, Ryan Leslie's production >> most cats doing it. Dude is pretty sick with on the keys too.

Rick Rubin Releasing Book

Spotted this over on Hooked On That:

This is something that has pique my interests, an in depth book about Rick Rubin: In the Studio. Early in his career, Rick Rubin was synonymous with making great hip hop productions and starting Def Jam with Russell Simmons from his NYU dorm room. Cut to 2009/2010 while now based in Los Angeles, Rick Rubin is still producing some of the today's music greats. In the coming months, I look forward to hearing his production cut(s?) off of The Clipse's new album "Till The Casket Drops" and of course, more great music productions to follow.

(via press clipping)

On August 11, ECW Press will issue the 300-page book "Rick Rubin: in the Studio" by biographer Jake Brown. Nearly three years of meticulous research went into the making of the book, which documents the roots of Rubin's rise as one of the industry's most singularly influential record producers and A&R men, chronicles the making of such ground-breaking Def Jam-era classic LPs as the BEASTIE BOYS' seminal "License to Ill" and RUN DMC's "Raising Hell", his legendary, career-resurrecting collaboration with Johnny Cash, and of course, Rubin's countless successes in the studio with such wide-ranging rock/metal superstars as the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SLAYER, AUDIOSLAVE, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, WEEZER, DANZIG, THE CULT, LINKIN PARK, METALLICA and others.

Joe Budden TV: How Soon is Too Soon to Call?

cor-casion?

Reflection.

I've been bummed out about something personal since earlier in the week. Nothing major. But just something that bothers me. I've been vibing to this since Monday. Makes me sit back and reflect. Sometimes spoken word and a simple piano instrumental is the best medicine. This is the intro to J.Cole's "The Warmup" mixtape:

(mediafire download)

What do y'all listen to when you just wanna vibe out?

FYI

Just an FYI. I remember a TON of people mentioning HBO's Eastbound and Down when it was on during the 1st season both on here and twitter. Just realized the DVD of the 1st season came out. You can buy it via HBO HERE or at like your local Best Buy or something.

The show is hilarious. Season 2 coming Spring '10.

Twista ft. Do or Die, Johnny P - Yo Body

I was listening to this track and thinking to myself...where have I heard this snap, kick, hit pattern before with some of these additional percussion elements? BOOM. Twista and Do or Die bit their own song and came up with "Yo Body," off Twista's upcoming album, Category F5.

On this note, I'd also like to say the guys of Do or Die are severely underrated. In my opinion, at least.

Dorrough ft. V/A - Ice Cream Paint Job (remix)

I'm not really up on Dorrough, but apparently he's been doin it big out in Dallas for a little while now (y'all can clarify, if you want). Here, he recruits a whole slew of artists to remix his single, Ice Cream Paint Job.

Bouncy track right here. This would bang in the car....if I still had one (no need for a car in NYC).

Dorrough ft. J.D., Soulja Boy, Rich Boy, Jim Jones, E-40, Slim Thug - Ice Cream Paint Job (remix)

E.Ness X 9th Wonder Collabo Digital Album

Wow...this came out of nowhere, but I'm not mad at this at all. Just didn't see this coming. I'll have to check this out later at some point, although I don't have iTunes because I do not own an ipod. From the press release:

E. Ness debuted on iTunes.com. The album entitled “The W.ide W.orld of W.Rap” is a collaborative effort with super producer 9th Wonder and being distributed independently as a digital release.

The album showcases E. Ness’s lyrical ability and mesmerizing flow set to dynamic beats and truly is a testament to the artistry of both parties. The album is available online everywhere and comes before the first solo album from E. Ness titled “Nessesary”, slated to be released this year through Bad Boy Records.

E. Ness is currently in production for his new reality show “Swamp Vision TV”. The reality show will follow the hip hop star through various phases of production, recording and promotion. “Swamp Vision TV” will take viewers through the process of releasing his first solo album.

On another note....E.Ness is still with Bad Boy?????????

Tony Yayo - Sleep Walking

Some new Yayo, provided by ThisisCurtis.com. G-Unit seems to be back on the mixtape grind, just like how they started. Just press the Download MP3 button, if interested.

Jay-Z BP3 (Controversial) verse

Jay-Z Intro Blueprint 3 in Chicago from Superfun on Vimeo.

Here is a much more clearer video and audio of the verse Jay kicked a couple days ago in Vegas, that prompted the ever so confusing Game to respond right back in France. Looks like Game had a connecting flight, Got of the plane from Southside Jamaica queens and boarded the g5 to Marcy Projects.

Peace,

Clif Soulo

Starlito - Steve McNair

A nice track from Starlito dedicated to those who have passed away recently. Starlito is a Nashville native and was a big a fan of McNair - so this is fitting. Nice use of the instrumental as well.

Starlito aka All Star is apparently affiliated with Cash Money Records, so look out for additional music in the near future.

Fabolous - Welcome to My Workplace

Off Loso's Way!

B.O.B. - Put Me On

Bobby Ray teamed up with Reebok on a unique reinterpretation of A Tribe Called Quest's classic "Bonita Applebum" in celebration of the Reebok Classic Remix collection. The track - entitled "Put Me On" - is available for download exclusively to customers who purchase styles from the Reebok Classic Remix collection, at Foot Locker stores nationwide.

Inspectah Deck - House N*gga (Joe Budden Diss)

Uh oh.... It's on?

If you missed it, Here's how it all started

Crooked I - "Mr. Pig Face Weapon Waist" Features

Via BossBoards
Today we are happy to announce some very important news regarding Crooked I's upcoming EP titled "Mr. Pig Face Weapon Waist". We have recently received the feature appearances and production credits for the project and fans are going to be quite surprised at some of the names mentioned. As far as feature appearances are concerned, fans can look forward to hearing The Horse Shoe Gang, K-Young, Raekwon, Edi and of course Slaughterhouse.

However, there is one name that you will certainly not be expecting to hear on the project and that name is Snoop Dogg. Readers may remember our April Fools Day joke stating that Snoop Dogg and Crooked I had recorded a track together. We assure you that this is not an April Fools Day joke and that Snoop Dogg is definitely making an appearance on the EP. When it comes to production credits, fans can expect to hear beats from Komplex, Scram Jones, Street Runner, Frequency & P. Silva.
The EP will be available July 21 at all digital retailers, be sure to buy that and Royce's EP "The Revival" if you didn't! Also check out Crooked's official Twitter page Here for more details and news.

TKO ft. Chip Tha Ripper - Knockin Down Doors

New Chip by way of TKO and Ram Beatz. I'm liking this one. Definitely check this out. Look out for additional Chip Tha Ripper in the near future. Thanks to Slab Up.

MTV's 5 Things You Don't Know About Twista

Twista is the latest to be interviewed for MTV's "The 5" series, placing artists in front of a camera to list 5 things we may not know about them. I believe the last one I posted was Kid Cudi's intv. Check it out.
