HHU Exclusive Track, Hitchcock Mixtape, 1.5 Million for Bootlegging

New Skyzoo & Company - HHU Exclusive!
This was sent to me a little earlier in the day. It's another joint produced by WMS the Sultan, who was responsible for a large portion of the production on Joe Budden's Mood Muzik 3. The track features one my personal favorites, Skyzoo, along with Static & Messiah, Leanne & Letia Larok. This track is fire! Check it out....

Make a Mix CD - Then Pay 1.5 Million Dollars to the RIAA

The amount that the RIAA gets in statutory damages in filesharing lawsuits is already completely bananas, but they still aren't happy. The problem? Compilation CDs. A rascally pirate could rip 10 tracks from 10 CDs, say they came from a compilation and then only be culpable for one album. That's not right! The RIAA would then be cheated out of money they could use to polish the rubies on the ends of their walking sticks!

So what are they doing? Pushing the PRO-IP Act through Congress that'll increase the statutory damages for compilation albums to a whopping $1.5 million. Yes, if you get busted sharing a soundtrack or compilation album with multiple artists on it, the RIAA wants to count each track as its own album. You know, just for the heck of it.

With statutory damages already so out of the league of the rational and the justifiable, increasing the damages this much might actually happen. I mean, if they could justify $150,000 an album before, is it really such a leap to make that $1.5 million?

The moral of the story? Be careful and don't get busted

Swizz Beatz, DMX Talk Gospel Album and Ruff Ryders

Swizz Beatz recently revealed that DMX has linked up with Neptunes producer Pharrell to work on the gospel portion of his upcoming album.

As reported earlier, DMX's upcoming album will be a double CD titled Walk With Me Now and You'll Fly With Me Later.

Walk With Me Now will be his typical street themed album while Fly With Me Later will be a gospel album with no cursing.

Swizz, who made the revelation to MTV News, will also be a part of X’s double project.

Beatz also divulged that he is putting together the fifth installment from the Ruff Ryder compilation series which he says will feature tracks from all the original members of the Ruff Rydercamp which include The Lox, DMX, Drag-on and himself.

“I'm in my zone,” Swizz explained about the project. “I'm bringing the Ruff Ryders back real major in '08. It's gonna be a lot of Ruff Ryders sh-- in '08. Not taking away from D-Block, not taking away from Bloodline. It's stamping the brand that started all this sh--. They letting me do whatever I wanna do as the presiden t [of the company].”

Swizz plans to get Dr. Dre and DJ Premier on board for the project. Harlem producer Dame Grease, who crafted a good chunk of early material from DMX and the Ruff Ryders, will also be part of the compilation as well as other producers affiliated with the Ruff Ryder camp.

Aside from the aforementioned projects, Swizz's production will be featured on upcoming albums from Lil Wayne (The Carter III), 50 Cent (Before I Self Destruct), G-Unit (Lock And Load) and Fat Joe (The Elephant In The Room).

He will also be working with N.E.R.D and Macy Gray on their upcoming projects.

New Jay-Z Track, New Music

New Jay Track
Retirement? Nah...Jay is back with another track entitled "Ain't I" off of a supposed Blueprint 3 album. Perhaps he feels he needs redemption from American Gangster, which STILL hasn't gone platinum. This track was produced by none other than Timbaland who's been on that heat lately. Reading across message boards, the track has been given mixed reviews - the usual suspects that say he's too old to rap and the others who will forever support Jay. Is he back? You Decide...

Jay-Z - Ain't I

Big up to LowKey for the track who's been working hard lately. Congrats on that shout from Miss Info as well!

Talib Kweli Confirms Reflection Eternal Album *sorry for the screw up

Although "Hot Thing" might not have stirred the masses to the tune of previous hits like "Get By" or "Move Something," 2007 saw Talib Kweli with his highest charting debut of his career with Eardrum. Nearly five months after the album's release, Kweli told HipHopDX that he's still working the effort, having recently shot a video for his next single, the Just Blaze-produced "Hostile Gospel," in Nigeria.

Of the project, Kweli said, "There were some really great things we learned about this project, and some not-so-great things. Overall, I'm optimistic. This was kind of our proving-ground as a company."
Talib also confirmed his release schedule for the upcoming year, with his Warner Brothers-distributed Blacksmith imprint. "We've got Jean Grae's Jeanius coming, which is not a mixtape, it's album," said the Brooklyn emcee of his next project. Jean, like Crooked I and Tonedeff, also has plans for a Valentine's Day-themed mixtape releasing in two weeks. "We're finishing up that, then I'm really exciting to release this project by Strong Arm Steady."

The second project from trio Krondon, Phil Da Agony and Mitchy Slick will mark Blacksmith's first west coast release, as well as the major label debut for the first two artists of the group.
Lastly, Talib Kweli confirmed that he's closing out the year with a reunion with Hi-Tek. "People asked for it, so we got back together, and we're working on that." Albeit sparse on details, Kweli promised the project to be released before the close of 2008, and revealed that recording was underway.

Sheek's New Album Cover
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How allhiphop.com Almost got Destroyed

Greg Watkins stood at the bar at a New York City nightclub, watching a fashion show unfold onstage and trying not to think about all the drinks his guests were charging to his credit card. He was paying for three rappers, two of whom each ordered an entire bottle of Hennessy cognac. Pretty soon the tab exceeded $600--and that was the least of his worries.

It was late August 2006, and Watkins's New York City-based company, the hip-hop news website AllHipHop.com, had spent a year planning this festival. Watkins and Chuck Creekmur, his co-founder and childhood pal, hoped the event, AllHipHop Week, would catapult their brand into the big time. Instead, it had turned into a cash-flow nightmare. A few days before the week began, their accountant had broken bad news: The company was plunging deeply into the red. Receivables were overdue, costs had spun out of control, and the cost of the event, projected at around $150,000, had inflated to twice that amount.

AllHipHop.com was attracting five million visitors a month and was on track to hit about $2 million in revenue in 2006. That was four times what it had earned the previous year but not enough to absorb an extra $150,000 in unexpected expenses. Watkins mingled with the crowd and tried to put on a good face. To outsiders, the company appeared to be pulling off a spectacular event, with big-name rappers performing and thousands of fans attending concerts and art shows throughout the week. But Watkins worried that AllHipHop.com was on the verge of collapse.

Interview says that Jay dropped everyone from Philly minus one artist (Beanie or Free?). Also mentions that Jay basically sent and A&R to Philly to break the news rather than sitting down with them individually in meetings that were originally planned. Peedi claims that he is happy he was let go because Jay was holding him back. Disappointed that Beanie Sigel couldn't even contact Jay. Oh, is it just me or does Peedi sound drunk as hell?

New Ali Vegas Mixtape and Album News

Hip Hop artist Ali Vegas is set to release the album, “Generation Gap 2: The Prequel” in May 2008. In anticipation of the album release, Ali Vegas keeps us updated with the “America’s Prince” mixtape. As one of the most recognizable names in hip-hop, Ali began his career in the late 90’s and at only 25 years old this artist is sure to break ground with his lyrical dexterity. The self proclaimed “Prince of New York” hails from Jamaica, Queens and has often been compared to hip hop greats such as Nas and Jay-Z. In 2006, Ali Vegas signed to Lamar Odom’s label, Rich Soil Entertainment where he has worked with producers ranging from J Nice to Midi Mafia.

As a seasoned vet, Vegas began rapping at age 6 and since has had a string of hits including Gangsta Boogie, The Apology, and the Specialists which was featured on the ‘In too Deep’ soundtrack. Ali’s new album will include collaborations with Akon, Styles P, Sammie and more. This album will present a more mature Vegas and bring hip-hop back to its lyrical days. “I am really proud of this project, through the course of this album I have grown personally and professionally my music reflects my life” says Ali.

Vegas has experienced his share of setbacks, having two unsuccessful deals with Trackmaster Entertainment under Columbia and Casablanca Records with Tommy Mottola before signing to Rich Soil Entertainment. He is more determined now than ever to live up to the hype. Vegas is outspoken, self-empowered and intelligent; he is one of hip hop’s most gifted emcees with enough content and talent to secure his position as the “Prince of New York”.

LOL at Criminals Gone Wild Mixtape Cover

Taken from illroots.com:

Oh yes we did. As you know, my boy FD and I have been working together for some time. He put out a little DVD last year that you might have heard of, Criminals Gone Wild. Yeah, the one that was on CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC, etc. Well we decided it was time to drop the official soundtrack for the streets, volume one of the official mixtape.

We got tracks by your favorite rappers (Biggie, 50 Cent, Wu-Tang Clan, Onyx, Mobb Deep, etc.), some stuff by some raw underground acts (St. Laz, Gawdbless, Willie Maze, R-Side, etc.) and some newer shit by artists like Krayzie Bone, Uncle Murder and The Game among others.
And did we mentioned FD himself is hosting it alongside Bill O’Reilly?
This mixtape will be one of the most controversial and best listens of the year.

Lupe Confirms Next Big Single is "Paris, Tokyo"

Sit with it, don't sleep on it. Lupe Fiasco's The Cool album is one of those LPs that will take multiple listens to get all its metaphors and bar juggling, the Chicago native insists.

"I think we got a solid body of work together," Lupe said recently in New York. He has a sold-out show at the Nokia Theater on February 2 (the night prior to the Super Bowl) as part of his tour (and he promised special guests such as CRS during the summer leg of his outing). "I think we got an album that people are gonna get. Initially, people enjoyed and loved it, but I think people are going to love it even more once it sits, because it's such a heavy body of work that you gotta break down. ... I think it's gonna re-evolve. It's gonna re-happen!"

Fiasco's follow-up video to "Superstar" is going to be a low-budget affair and head straight to cyberspace. After that, he said some exec at Atlantic records is going to sign off on a big check for the next clip.

"We're shooting a lot of videos," he promised. "The next viral record is gonna be 'Hip-Hop Saved My Life.' We're gonna leak that to [the Net]. The next main video is gonna be 'Paris, Tokyo.' Were planning a huge, big, kinda exotic, grandiose production for that. That'll probably come in February."...

Trick Trick Speaks on Debut, Eminem, Dr. Dre...
With Eminem's presence sorely missed in the hip-hop scene, the least bit of news about him makes fans and media alike go crazy. The latest rumor surrounding the Detroit MC was that he had ballooned to more than 200 pounds. Word on the street is that Slim Fast even came out and publicly offered him an endless supply of its dietary drink — and a spokesman position!

One of Em's friends and frequent collaborators, Trick Trick, says all the joking about Slim Shady not being slim anymore is just ridiculous.

"Em just picked up some weight, that's it," Trick, a fellow Detroit native, downplayed Thursday afternoon. He's nowhere [near] 250 pounds or anything like that. He picked up a little weight. He ain't walkin' around obese or some sh-- though. He can still run two miles if you want him to and still out-box the majority of them. My man still gets down."

Trick says Em getting down isn't just a physical thing — Slim Shady is still lyrically sound and ready to knock off heads. In fact, he is just one of the guests on Trick's upcoming independent LP, The Villain.

"He's still the coldest that ever did it," Trick said. "The game needs his album. He's rapping on [my album track] 'Who Want It.' He's like, 'Who want it?' [In the song] he's hanging out and these f---ing idiots are always at it. If you want it, come get it. He ain't trying to do nothing but be Em. I'm being me. If you want it, I got ya. He's Em on there. He's going for it. Whoever wants some can come get it. Em produced and rapped on it."

Marshall Mathers isn't the only one onboard Trick's LP, though. Em's pal Dr. Dre produced a record called "Hold On."

Budden to Release "Padded Room" in the Spring...we hope...

If all goes as planned, rapper Joe Budden will release his first album in five years, "Padded Room," in the spring.

"Padded Room" will be the follow-up to 2003's "Joe Budden," which launched the hit "Pump It Up." Three editions of his "Mood Muzik" mixtape series have followed, but Budden tells Billboard.com that he's looking forward to another proper album release.

"It's complete," Budden says of "Padded Room," which will be released by Amalgam Digital. "It basically will be in the same vein as 'Mood Muzik,' just a little more structure and the mood will probably be a little lighter. I'm definitely pleased with the direction that it's going."

He adds that the album "sounds like Joe Budden. I can't really say it sounds like the times, because the times right now I'm not too fond of. I'm not too big on how that sound is going. But Joe Budden fans will get what they're accustomed to, and there's music on there for the casual listener as opposed to 'Mood Muzik,' which is not for the casual fan."

Budden, of course, had intended to release a second album called "The Growth" in the wake of the self-titled record's success. But it was scuttled by a deteriorating relationship with Def Jam, his label at the time, and a rumored feud with outgoing CEO Jay-Z. Nowadays Budden says that "the relationship went sour over the years, not something that just happened spontaneously or instantly. It was kind of a developing process."

But he does acknowledge that Def Jam's changing of the guard in 2004, after his debut's release, was not good for his career. "The people that signed me to Def Jam and had so much faith in me and believed in me, those weren't the people who were in charge anymore," Budden explains. "If the people who are running Def Jam now were in charge in 2002, 2003, who could say if I ever would have been signed to a deal."

Once "Padded Room" is out, meanwhile, Budden hopes that there won't be as long a wait for his third album. "I'm in the studio every single day, vibing and coming up with ideas," he notes. "There's always music around to put out, so you'll hear more from me sooner than later, I hope."

RIP D.Ellis

SO...I was just lookin at nahright.com and I come across my friend Dave Ellis at the top of the page. Crazy. So I go to Paul Rosenberg's blog and it looks as though some quality MC's put together a song in D.Ellis' memory over a 9th Wonder track. Dave was a true lover of hip hop music and one of the realest people I've ever been friends with. Even if he were scoopin ice cream or serving food at the University of Maryland dining hall or hosting his UMD radio show, D.Ellis showed a passion for whatever he was doing - Last memory I had was going to a Kanye show at UMD before Kanye even had a hit under his belt (pre-through the wire era). His website/blog which coincided with his radio show is sumish.com (hence the name of the title). Dave has been truly missed by all. RIP

HHU Producer Interview: Osinachi (Maryland)

Hip Hop Update Producer Interview: Osinachi
You may not recognize the name now, but you will be hearing a lot from him in 2008. Believe it or not, Osinachi has already produced for some major players in the industry including John Legend, Biz Markie and Fabolous. He's also produced some major tracks for college friend and up and coming rap star Wale.

His work has finally been recognized as some of the top production in the industry - He recently got the call from Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins that Osinachi was wanted on the team. If you don't know who Darkchild is, where have you been the past ten years? Osinachi is now going to be working side by side with the legendary hitmaker to produce some of the biggest records in the forthcoming years. Here's a quick interview I did...

Hip Hop Update: First off, equipment - what do you use when you're creating infectious beats like "uptown roamers" and "nike boots"? Any tricks, tips or habits when you're in the studio? Osinachi: For the most part i use the MPC2000xl and a Motif. Lol,cant give any tips or tricks.Gotta keep some things secret.

HHU: Would you characterize your production as having a particular "style?" I know you wouldn't want to place a label on your music, but you know how as soon as you hear the beat you can tell if its that new neptunes joint or swizz beats track...are we going to be able to say 'damn theres another Osinachi banger' off the bat?
O: Honestly I didnt think i had a particular sound but for some reason EVERYBODY ELSE can tell when they hear my records.Alot of times im so engulfed in trying to create good music, that i dont pay attention to having a particular style. If anyone can figure it out please let ME know, lol.

HHU: Any musical influences?
O: My musical influences are Timbaland,Rodney Jerkins, and Jermaine Dupri. These are the guys that really made me want to do this.

HHU: How did you first link up with Wale and how's the journey been since its inception?
O: Wale actually went to college with me ,but we began to do music through our mutual friend Nyrik.I invited him to my studio and had a long discussion about the music business and my experiences.I like to make a habit of finding out where artists are mentally before i even touch the keyboard. From there we began to make history.

HHU: Who have you worked with within the industry?
O: The first album I worked on was Biz Markie's "Weekend Warrior."In addition to that i have done work with John Legend,Erick Sermon,Elephant Man, Mr.Cheeks,Oschino and Sparks,Lil Mo,Fabolous,Deemi(Atlantic)and Young Sterling(Def Jam)

HHU: According to your myspace pages, you've been signed under Darkchild, who's been responsible for countless hits over the years. First of all HUGE congrats and how did that come about?
O: Thanks. Mannnnnnn where to start....well it all came as a result of networking. In frustration, I left DC for Atlanta for about a month and promised myself I wouldnt come back without making industry some connections..period.While I was there mannnn.....lol... I did some Ill advised things. I pretty much staked out every popular studio in atlanta. I faked an appointment at DTP(what up Ken,lol). Staked out Grand Hustle,Club Crucial(TI's club)and Patchwerk studios.I was there for so many days....they threatened to call the police if i didnt leave.Anyway I met a guy in Patchwerk studios named Jacey Kidd. He liked my music. He then passed it on to Rodney's engineer Tito. Tito gave it to Rodney.......and now I'm signed.

HHU: What exactly does your deal entail? I mean that in terms of responsibility wise, production wise etc...Just like Danja has been Timbaland's right hand man are you going to be Rodney Jerkins' up and comer? Or is it a completely different type of deal?
O: Well pretty much, there are 3 of us,Rodney, another young producer named D'Mile, and I. We are THE team now.We just WORK!! Rodney gets the list of what people need and we get to grinding simple. Im not a ghost producer or anything like that.My name will be on the credits too. On the HUMBLE I just look forward to learning from Rodney. Its an honor to work with your influence.

HHU: What's next for Osinachi? what can we look out for, what can we expect for 2008 and beyond?
O: Wow...ummm..in the words of Rodney"Get some rest, because 2008 is gonna be a busy year!!!"Who knows whats gonna happen, but im striving for success.

HHU: Last words
O: HEYYYYYYY(IM TYPING IN ALL CAPS SO EVERYONE READS THIS) GO OUT AND GET YOUR SITUATION!!!!!!!MAKE SITUATIONS FOR YOURSELF! RODNEY JERKINS DIDNT COME KNOCK ON MY DOOR!DONT EXPECT ME OR ANYONE ELSE TO JUST GIVE YOU THE WORLD ON A PLATTER.I HAD TO GET ON MY GRIND HARD AND YOU BETTER DO THE SAME. THERE ARE NO HANDOUTS IN THIS BUSINESS!!!REMEMBER THAT.

Here's Some Wale Tracks he's produced:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess the story was real...

Hiphopdx.com reported this yesterday but I didn't hear anything else about it - so I didn't post the story. Well, the NY Daily News also reported it today:

A rap artists who named his latest album "Respect the Shooter" was shot in the head as he sat in a parked car in Brooklyn, police sources said Wednesday.

Uncle Murda, whose real name is Leonard Grant, suffered a graze wound in the 10:30 p.m. shooting Tuesday on Linden Blvd. in East New York, cops said. Grant, 27, was not seriously injured, sources said.

Grant has a rap sheet dating back to 1997, which includes an arrest for attempted murder of a cop and drug charges.

Suge not allowed in Compton

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- City officials asked a judge to ban members of the Mob Piru street gang from being able to congregate in a neighborhood of Compton - and asked that the order include Marion "Suge" Knight.

The co-founder of Death Row Records was one of 200 people the officials said were members of Mob Piru. The injunction would ban them from congregating, carrying guns, drinking alcohol in public or staying out past 10 p.m.

Knight called the injunction a "publicity stunt."

"This is crazy," Knight told the Los Angeles Times in Thursday's editions. "I'm a 42-year-old businessman, not a gang member. I don't even live in Compton anymore."

A hearing on the matter was to be held Thursday.

Although such injunctions are a common anti-gang tactic in southern California, this is the first time one has been sought in Compton, a city less than 10 miles south of downtown Los Angeles that announced a gang crackdown two years ago.

Mob Piru members have gained notoriety for their alleged links to Knight and Death Row, once home to artists such as Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg.

Lil' Wayne had a lot of stuff on him...

TMZ has learned rapper Lil' Wayne has been hit with some big time charges -- possession of cocaine, possession of ecstasy and possession of drug paraphernalia. Make it rain!

Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, was arrested with two others who have been charged with possession of marijuana. Cops say they found 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine and 41 grams of ecstasy pills on his tour bus -- after they stopped at a Border Patrol checkpoint.

Police also found $22,000 in cash and a 40-caliber pistol, but Wayne, we're told, does have a permit to carry a concealed weapon in the state of Florida. They tell us they're checking to see if that carries over to Arizona.

The judge set his bond at $10,000. He should be released in a lil' while.

Hip Hop Update Interview: Spot (Coney Island, Brooklyn, NYC)

Spot is a New York born hip hop artist who has been involved within the industry for a while now. He's produced next to Puffy, Mario Winans and Swizz Beats and put out his latest mixtape with features from the likes of R.Kelly, Serious Jones and Gucci Mane. He's been under the wing of Jimmy Henchman and DJ Sickamore for years and he's ready to make an immediate impact on the industry.

Hip Hop Update:
Who is Spot? Where is he from? What does he represent and what does Spot want to bring to the industry?

Spot: Whassup JD, well for those who don't know, I am Spot and I embody everything that's great about NY city. I am from Coney Island, Brooklyn and I have lived all over NYC - I am truly a New Yorker. I represent the voice of the street, the young street niggas brought up with nothing, but went hard to get everything. In a music industry built off of images that don't match up with reality, I bring honesty and humility to the game. I am the good and the bad of the streets, just in the form of one of the hottest rappers and producers to come along in years.

HHU: Explain how you got your start.

Spot: I was brought into the game by Jimmy Henchmen, who put me in the
position to succeed. I already knew a lot of the people in the industry from the street, NY is a small place when you're on the scene so you are bound to run into everybody. I started off writing with more established acts and just built from the ground up. Stay rooted in the streets and went hard on the mixtape scene, built my name up one fan at a time and now it's nearing fever pitch.

HHU: Have there been any major players in the industry who have helped you/guided you through the game?

Spot: Jimmy has been a major influence, just coming from the same ghettos and also being an extremely savvy business man. Jimmy would take me everywhere with him, and introduce me to people in many different fields, from Don King to Denzel (laughing). I have had the opportunity to get advice from a ton of people all across the board, from moguls like Puff and Kedar Massenburg, to hit makers like Swizz to top DJs like Kay Slay. I am a student of the game and not too egotistical to ask for help if and when i need it. Its been a real blessing just to be put right into the mix, I have definitely paid my dues. At first I was very raw to the ways of the business, but between Jimmy and my big homie Red Bug (Kareem) I've learned how to deal with people who sometimes lie directly to your face, but may be responsible for cutting the check to buy your next car (laughing).

Spot - Don't Really Wanna Part 2

Spot - A Breath Away (single)

Spot - The Ceiling

Spot - A Breath Away (mixtape)

The rest of the interview includes:
-Thoughts on his latest mixtape and his progression
-His business and friendly relationship with DJ Sickamore
-How he plans to attack the industry and not get shelved
-Preview of features and Producers on his Major Debut which include Swizz Beats, Needlz & Just Blaze

Termanology Album Lookin Crazy...

Former Source "Unsigned Hype" artist Termanology has seemingly done a lot with a little. The Lawrence, Massachusetts emcee has worked with legends, shot successful videos and appeared on countless mixtapes throughout the last three years.

His first album is sizing up to be a coming-out party of sorts for the hard working talent. This week, the emcee, who now lives in The Bronx, revealed his production lineup for the yet untitled "debut" album, after a slew of street releases. DJ Premier, Nottz, Large Professor, Showbiz, The Alchemist, Pete Rock and Buckwild are among those confirmed. "It’s looking classic with the producer lineup, I wanted it to be like if as far as the beats are hot then all the pressure falls on me, so as long as I rip it then there it is, I like the pressure so it has to live up to the music that the producers done prior," Termanology told Pyroradio alongside Cormega.

That lineup includes work on Nas' Illmatic, The Game's Documentary and Big L's The Big Picture. Termanology has yet to confirm a date, but is planning a 2008 release.

Busta Avoids Jail Time...It's Good to be a Celebrity...

Busta Rhymes cut a deal with prosecutors in New York earlier today (January 23) that will keep him out of prison on two assault charges. According to the Associated Press, the rapper agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor assault charges and was sentenced to 10 days community service and three years probation. If he violates the probation, he will face up to one year behind bars. The charges stem from two separate incidents in which a former employee and a New York man said the rapper assaulted them.

Busta was also facing a DUI charge for an arrest on May 3, 2007. According to TMZ.com, he was ordered to pay a $750 fine and enroll in a drunk driving program. In relation to another separate count of driving with a suspended license, Busta will lose his driver’s license for a period of six months. In July, Busta rejected a plea deal offered by the district attorney that would have landed him in prison for one year.

Def Jam Sued!

Def Jam Sued for 20 Mil!!!!!!!!
This memo was just sent out regarding an unforeseen lawsuit against Island Def Jam. In the center of the issue lies Grammy Nominated Chrisette Michele, who's probably most know for being exposed on Nas' latest album, Hip Hop is Dead. If won, Def Jam will lose roughly 20 Million dollars! Hmmm...did Jay-Z know something before he dipped out? Who knows, but you got the news here first!

Here's what the memo says:

Def Jam sued for $20 Million: Grammy-nominee Chrisette Michele — and her mother —center stage in second lawsuit

January 22, 2008, New York, New York—Litigation involving Chrisette Michele, nominated for a Grammy in the upcoming awards, expanded as Four Kings CEO, Douglas “Biggs” Ellison, filed suit in Manhattan Supreme Court against Island Def Jam Music Group (a division of UMG), Shalik Berry (A&R), Lynette Payne, Chrisette’s mother (a former school teacher) and Lemuel Payne, Chrisette’s father (a deacon at his church in Long Island). Attorneys for Four Kings Productions, Inc. allege in their complaint on behalf of Mr. Ellison and his production company that all of the foregoing defendants in the current case conspired to commit, and in fact did commit, numerous business torts and engaged in unlawful business practices with the intent of getting the artist out of her exclusive contracts with Four Kings, all of which has damaged Mr. Ellison and his production company, Four Kings, immeasurably.

The above action is the second of two related lawsuits in which this controversy is currently being litigated. The artist first sued Mr. Ellison and Four Kings (a move that Mr. Ellison describes as “pre-emptive”), in which she alleged, among other things, “embezzlement” and “harassment”; however, each of those claims were quietly withdrawn at the request of Ms. Michelle—but not before the salacious charges were repeated over and over in the press. The artist in fact only dropped the foregoing charges after Four Kings countersued in response, suing the artist for
breach of the exclusive management agreement that Ms. Michelle signed with Four Kings and for breach by the artist of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and related claims.

The second lawsuit seeks punitive damages of $20 million against the defendants, with Four Kings alleging that business decisions made by Def Jam, Berry and the Paynes, infringed upon Four Kings’ contractual rights to receive proceeds from the income of the artist, including from the sale of her album, “I AM”, other recordings, touring and acting. Four Kings contends that Def Jam’s actions were conducted in bad faith and have harmed the interests of the production company. Lynette Payne is being sued for defamation, conversion, unjust enrichment, and tortuous interference with contracts between the production company and her daughter and for interference with the future business relationship
between the artist and Four Kings as provided for in the contracts signed by Mr. Ellison and Ms. Michelle.

Four Kings Productions, Inc. spent countless hours developing, recording, and financing Chrisette Michele’s career. Four Kings, as Chrisette Michele’s exclusive manager and exclusive recording company, entered into a recording agreement with Def Jam in September of 2005 for the benefit of the artist, agreeing to provide her services to Def Jam. Four Kings and Chrisette completed multiple songs and gave them to Def Jam for inclusion on her debut album “I Am.” As soon as the artist’s mother saw that Chrisette was receiving money, all a direct result of the efforts of the production company under its contracts with the artist, Mr. Ellison’s complaint alleges, Lynette Payne quit her job as a teacher and, in willful disregard of the artist’s contractual obligations to Four Kings, usurped management functions regarding her daughter’s newly found success, in an effort to keep the money in the family. The lawsuit alleges that Chrisette’s mother, upon quitting her job, deliberately set about inserted herself into the role that Four Kings should be performing in the production process according to the artist’s agreements with the production company. The Four Kings’ complaint goes on to allege that Mrs. Lynette Payne sought to sever lines of communication between the talented artist and Mr. Ellison, met with Mr. Berry at Def Jam’s office in New York to conspire to get Ms. Michelle out of her contracts with Four Kings, lawfully or otherwise. The complaint also says that the artist’s father, Mr. Payne knew about his wife’s attempts to take over management of their daughter’s suddenly burgeoning career, and hoped that hid role in trying to take over management of the artist could be kept in the background.

Ms. Michele is nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance for her hit song, “If I Had My Way”. Chrisette Michelle is also featured on three tracks on the Grammy-nominated album “Hip Hop Is Dead” by Def Jam recording artist Nas — “Can't Forget About”, “Hope” and “You Still Dreaming” (along with Kanye West). Chrisette Michele is also featured on the Jay-Z hit “Lost One” and on the track “Slow Down” on Ghostface Killah’s CD “The Big Doe Rehab”.

Douglas Ellison states that he hopes the matters being litigated do not sidetrack Ms. Michele from the long and successful career that Mr. Ellison predicts is certain to be ahead for the incredibly talented Ms. Michelle. Mr. Ellison said that he has been “ecstatic” for Chrisette since hearing about the Grammy nomination for her for her singing on the track “If I Had My Way”. Doug Ellison added that, as between himself and the artist, Chrisette Michelle and he have had a longstanding relationship based mutual respect for each other’s craft.

ABOUT FOUR KINGS PRODUCTIONS, INC.

MLK Day!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a United States holiday marking the birthdate of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., observed on the third Monday of January each year, around the time of King's birthday, January 15. It is one of four United States federal holidays to commemorate an individual person.[1]

King was the chief spokesman of the nonviolent civil rights movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. He was assassinated in 1968.

The campaign for a federal holiday in King's honor began soon after his assassination. Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed in 1986. At first, some states resisted observing the holiday as such, giving it alternative names or combining it with other holidays. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.

Nate Dogg Paralyzed; Good Chances he will Recover!!!
Former Death Row recording artist associate and noted collaborator Nate Dogg is paralyzed on the left side of his body after suffering a mild stroke over the holidays, according to his manager. As MTV News previously reported, Dogg (real name: Nathaniel Hale) is currently in an occupational rehab facility.

The prognosis for a full recovery, however, is good, Nate's rep, Rod McGrew, told MTV News on Thursday night; the singer did not suffer any brain damage nor has his voice been affected, he said.

"Time will tell everything, obviously. The doctor can only guess what the outcome will be," McGrew said. "But based on situations with similar people his age, and based on his health, the prognosis is good right now."

McGrew explained the singer has "neural-muscular issues that have to be jump-started." Those issues extend to his sense of touch and the ability to walk correctly, McGrew said.

Initially, there were conflicting reports surrounding the status Nate Dogg's health. There was word he had a heart attack, before it was correctly noted he suffered from a stroke instead. Also, conflicting reports arose regarding his release from the hospital and whether or not the singer was recovering at his home.

Flo-Rida ft. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Low (remix)

In the same style that Travis Barker just did his own remix of Flo-Rida's digitally record breaking single, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus puts their own rock twist. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus started out as a local band in Middleburg, Florida, which is south of Jacksonville. I'm kind of diggin the rock remixes I've been hearing recently. You already know where you got it first!

Fat Joe Album News

NEW YORK — Fat Joe is indeed demonstrating his "crazy versatility" — at least based on a preview of the few records he has leaked from his March release, The Elephant in the Room. On one hand, you have his Don Cartagena side, coming out in the official single "I Won't Tell," which features J. Holiday. It's a smoothed-out record in which Joe promises to not spill the beans about his cavorting with a woman who is with another guy. Then there's "Crack House" (featuring Lil Wayne), for all the Joey Crack lovers of the Bronx, New York, native's brash street-shuffling and strong-arming.

Next up is "300." Produced by LV — he's also worked on Jay-Z's American Gangster, Diddy's Press Play and Ghostface's Big Doe Rehab — the track is an ode to Joe's 'hood Spartans — or as we know them, his Terror Squad.

"It's my modern-day 'My Life Style,' " Joe said recently. " 'This is where we fight/ This is where they die/ Booomf! 300 Terror Squad n---as walking down the block/ I am a professional/ I will cut your testicles.' Real violent sh--. It's hard."

Joe said he'll be balancing that out on the album with another potential single, the Danjahandz-produced "Party All the Time" — yep a remake of the 1985 Eddie Murphy track that was produced by Rick James.

"I got this song with Diddy called 'Party All the Time,' " he smiled. "We did the old Eddie Murphy [song over].

"The n---a who loves '300' might hate that song," he laughed. "It's too sexy, but I'm killing that sh--. 'Happy, happy birthday baby/ If this is your song/ I love it when you sing that sh-- to me/ It really, really turns me on/ No, I go on, I go hard, it's Joey Crack the Don/ The promoter's buggin', screaming like, "Who invited thum?" ' Danja did that beat. The guys who wanna have a great time and the girls who love to have fun — that's gonna ring off. Versa-til-ity!"

Swizz Beatz, Scott Storch, Cool & Dre and DJ Khaled also contributed to The Elephant in the Room.

Torae Track, Ali Vegas to drop New Mixtape, Big Noyd Album, Kidz in the Hall Song, Consequence Vid, GLC Vid, Music Update #2

New Torae track

TORAE was up four hours before you this morning. By the second time you hit snooze on any given day he could be in the booth recording your new favorite song, penning his next feature on a hot compilation or on his way to your town to give you the show you’ve been waiting for tonight. Anything is possible, which explains how he’s performed before 20,000 people at a sold-out Nassau Coliseum and hit the stage with the likes of The Clipse, Cam'ron, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones and countless others all before signing a major recording contract.

This self proclaimed “new breed of the raw” gained his first exposure after submitting a demo tape to Bad Boy Records in the late 90's. Impressed with the demo, one of the label's executives featured TORAE on a compilation album released through an independent company. Soon after TORAE was invited to join The Ruff Ryders and Cash Money Millionaires on their nationwide tour. The buzz circulated throughout the music industry’s elite, and while on the set of Cam’ron’s music video for “My Hood” TORAE had the opportunity to show Cam and his friends just how vivid he could spit. He became a part of the Diplomat family, and although not signed to their label, remained close to Cam'ron, and the Dipset.

TORAE went on to record and release a 12" single "Gimme The Mic" b/w "Spice Thang" on his own Internal Affairs Entertainment imprint and in May 2006 TORAE released the single "Promises" b/w "T.I.M.E." on AV8 Records as a member of the underground hip-hop super group The Co. {Coalescence}. The single remains in heavy rotation on underground radio shows, Music Choice and satellite radio stations. Likewise, the track was featured on “The Justo Tribute” mixtape hosted by Pete Rock, and only three months after its release, nominated for two Underground Music Awards (Best Rap Group & Song of the Year).

release his debut LP, Daily Conversation, which features production from DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, Black Milk, Khrysis, Marco Polo and guest appearances from Tash (Tha Alkaholiks), Stimuli, Teflon and fellow rising stars Chaundon and Skyzoo.

TORAE’s DJ Premier produced lead-single, “Get It Done,” f/Skyzoo is already ringing in the new year on xxlmag.com’s banger section.

In addition to his solo and group endeavors you’ll be hearing TORAE’s voice on Rawkus Records’ Soundbombing 4, the eMC Project (Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Punchline & Strick), and DJ Babu’s new Duck Season this year; just to name a few.

Ali Vegas Prepping New Mixtape as Album Warmup

Hip Hop artist Ali Vegas is set to release the album, "Generation Gap 2: The Prequel" in May 2008. In anticipation of the album release, Ali Vegas keeps us updated with the "America's Prince" mixtape. As one of the most recognizable names in hip-hop, Ali began his career in the late 90's and at only 25 years old this artist is sure to break ground with his lyrical dexterity. The self proclaimed "Prince of New York" hails from Jamaica, Queens and has often been compared to hip hop greats such as Nas and Jay-Z. In 2006, Ali Vegas signed to Lamar Odom's label, Rich Soil Entertainment where he has worked with producers ranging from J Nice to Midi Mafia.

As a seasoned vet, Vegas began rapping at age 6 and since has had a string of hits including Gangsta Boogie, The Apology, and the Specialists which was featured on the 'In too Deep' soundtrack. Ali's new album will include collaborations with Akon, Styles P, Sammie and more. This album will present a more mature Vegas and bring hip-hop back to its lyrical days. "I am really proud of this project, through the course of this album I have grown personally and professionally my music reflects my life" says Ali.

Vegas has experienced his share of setbacks, having two unsuccessful deals with Trackmaster Entertainment under Columbia and Casablanca Records with Tommy Mottola before signing to Rich Soil Entertainment. He is more determined now than ever to live up to the hype. Vegas is outspoken, self-empowered and intelligent; he is one of hip hop's most gifted emcees with enough content and talent to secure his position as the "Prince of New York".

Another of my favorite artists who's STILL tryin to drop that debut after being shafted for years. I can't see him sellin millions, but he has some quality stuff out there...

Mayweather Vs. De La Hoya Round 2????
The richest fight in boxing history is on the verge of getting a sequel.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya, who shattered box office records when they met last spring, are close to finishing a deal for a rematch, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com Wednesday.

"We are still discussing things but we have almost finalized it," said Schaefer, who heads De La Hoya's promotional company. "I think an announcement will be forthcoming."

Schaefer said the fight would be Sept. 13 or Sept. 20 on HBO pay-per-view. He said the site for Mayweather-De La Hoya II has not been settled but he is holding the September dates at the 27,000-seat Home Depot Center, the outdoor home to the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. He said other venues are also interested, including the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

A source also told ESPN.com Wednesday night that Dodger Stadium was interested in hosting the fight after L.A. native De La Hoya suggested he'd like to fight there before retiring.

Mayweather won a split decision to take De La Hoya's junior middleweight belt when they met May 5 at the MGM Grand.

Foxy Still Tryin to Get Out

Reuters and The New York Times report that Foxy Brown has appealed to a New York judge to let her out of prison, to address fears that a lack of medical attention may end her career. Foxy, whose real name is Inga Merchand, offered a four-page handwritten letter to Judge Melissa Jackson, in which she stated, "I ask you to please take into consideration that my health is in jeopardy.

"
The trouble seems to be arising from the fact that only one doctor has been able to successfully treat what Foxy's camp calls a "profound hearing loss in her right ear." The problem was corrected in April of 2006 by a California surgeon who implanted a device in Foxy's ear, but the 29-year-old rapper states that she is experiencing complications from the implant while in prison. On Tuesday [Jan. 15], Foxy Brown's lawyer, Laura Dilimetin, submitted a formal appeal for release, stating that any further hearing damage "will have dire consequences on [Merchand's] ability to maintain her profession and livelihood."

Foxy Brown has been in the Rose M. Singer Women's Facility at Rikers Island since August of 2007. Foxy was sentenced to three years' probation in October of 2006, but violated the terms of the probation by being arrested for assaulting a neighbor with her Blackberry and later assaulting two stylists over a $20 manicure, in two separate incidents. Since reporting to the facility, Foxy was also placed in solitary confinement for 40 days after three violations involving physical altercations with other inmates.

John Legend : Live From Philadelphia

John Legend originally started being recognized as a legit musician while going to school in Philadelphia I believe and today he's one of my favorite RnB artists alongside Alicia Keys. This is some sort of a Target exclusive promo cd that was apparently released today that I didn't even know about. I'll have to pick it up when I head out in a little but for now, enjoy. The self proclaimed of King of New Jersey, Joe Budden, a part of Eminem's Shady Records?

That juicy rumor has been circulating the internet the past few weeks placing Budden on the same record label that rappers such as Obie Trice, D12 and Cashis call home.

Budden revealed to Sixshot.com today (January 15) that the rumor of him signing to Shady Records is just that.

“Yeah, that’s a rumor” Budden told Sixshot.com.

When asked whether anyone from Shady had tried to contact him, Budden replied: “I’m not going to say that, but far as me being in heavy talks with them....no. As far as us being close to closing a deal....no”.

Budden severed ties with Def Jam Records last year after the constant delay of his sophomore album, The Growth.

Budden will be releasing an album version of his mixtape Mood Music 3 with No DJ titled Mood Muzik 3.5 on February 28th via Amalgam Digital. The disc will also include the video for his single “Star Inside of Me”

Can't help but laugh at the ignorance...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Writers Guild To Make Appearance at the Grammy's...

The Feb. 10 Grammys kudocast isthe latest awards show thrown into confusion by the writers strike.

The WGA indicated Monday that it won't grant a waiver for the CBS telecast. And it told the Screen Actors Guild that attendees will have to cross a picket line at the Staples Center to attend the kudos if the strike is still on.

"The WGA has informed us that this is struck work, and they expect to have a picket line in place," a SAG spokesman said. "In those circumstances, our members have been unwilling to cross a picket line, and we anticipate that solidarity will continue."

The Writers Guild of America's refusal to grant a waiver for Sunday's Golden Globes led to the event being truncated into a news conference after all nominees in acting categories vowed they would not cross a WGA picket line. The WGA has called off its own Feb. 9 awards show, and the fate of the Feb. 24 Oscarcast remains muddled, with the guild indicating last month that it will not grant a waiver if one is requested.

WGA spokesman Gregg Mitchell said Monday that the Recording Academy has not asked the WGA for a waiver or interim agreement for the Grammys. "While no guild decision has yet been made regarding the Grammys, if a waiver is requested for the Grammys, it is unlikely to be granted," he added.

Sean Kingston Continues to Push Units

(New York, NY) January 10, 2008 -- Discovered on the popular social networking site, MySpace, 17-year-old artist, Sean Kingston, has become a force to be reckoned with since his debut, self-titled album launched on July 31, 2007 on Epic Records.

In a mere five months, Kingston has accrued more than 7 million worldwide sales of ringtones, ringbacks, singles and albums in physical and digital sales for songs including his #1 smash hit in 21 countries “Beautiful Girls,” his second top ten single “Me Love” and soon to be top ten third single “Take You There,” which is fast ascending the charts.

Additionally, Sean is featured on Natasha Bedingfield’s latest hit “Love Like This.”

To date, Kingston continues to command the digital world with more than 2.7 million digital singles sold. Both ringtones and ringbacks are being scooped up by today’s tastemakers with more than 2.7 million mobile digital sales to date. This is only the beginning, as Kingston is now wrapping up a national tour with Grammy-nominated Chris Brown, following a national tour with Gwen Stefani. Beginning in March, Sean will kick off an international tour performing throughout Europe, Australia and Asia through the end of spring.

To top an already exciting week, it was announced Monday that Kingston has been nominated in the “Outstanding New Artist” category for the 39th NAACP Image Awards that will air live on Thursday, February 14 (8:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT Tape-Delayed) on FOX.

Sean Kingston is not just a new face in popular music; he’s accomplished the rare task of creating a new genre where rap, reggae, pop, doo-wop and remarkable songwriting all combine into something unique. Add in Sean’s family roots, which cite Jamaican legendary producer Jack Ruby as his grandfather, and you have one of the most exciting debuts in 2007.

“He had a real distinct sound,” J.R. Rotem, Executive Producer of Kingston’s album, remembers. “I worked with some of the best and I don't see why Sean can't grow to be one of them. His potential is limitless.” Shortly after their initial meeting, Rotem had his flagship artist for label Beluga Heights, which partnered with Epic Records for the Sean’s debut.

New Rick Ross Track

Haven't heard this track yet myself personally but it was just sent to me...As far as making it on Trilla, I'm not sure because tracklists are still shaky for the final product. If it is, Ross is gonna have to come up with a major single to push units because his album keeps getting out track by track. This is produced by the Runners, who helped The Boss rise to fame on his first album...

Tony Yayo Speaks on New Album, G-Unit
When you're making $50,000 a show just for hyping up the crowd for somebody else's concert, it's a little difficult to get overly anxious about putting out your own album. Tony Yayo hasn't been rushing the follow-up to his 2005 effort, Thoughts of a Predicate Felon, even though he's the only member of the G-Unit crew without at least two LPs.

"I got so much material right now," Yayo said last week, fresh from court. "I'm to a point where I got a little spoiled. Honestly, I been working, and I got a lot of music. I get paid so well, I wasn't worried about an album. The average rapper has financial problems. 50 keeps all of us right. If I'm getting $50,000 a show with 50 and I just did two months' worth of shows, come on, man. 50 is the biggest rapper. He's getting half a million just to walk in somewhere, and we're doing nothing but stadiums. We're going places rappers don't go, where they don't know rappers.

"There's an album coming," he added. "I have plenty of material. The title — I ain't think of nothing yet, really, but I got lot of music. I got over 30 songs. I'm good money. I'm still working."

Yayo says the G-Unit album (tentatively titled Lock and Load) is still coming, and it has contributions from Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Havoc and Eminem. But there is no set time table for that release or for the next 50 solo album, Before I Self Destruct.

"It's just really a work process," he said of Lock and Load's being pushed back from the holiday season. "Everything has to be launched the right way and worked the right way. Labels like Interscope, they don't do everything people think they do for G-Unit. ... When G-Unit was at their prime and I got out of jail and 50 sold all them records — all that was done through G-Unit Records.

"I'm just learning a lot, and I'm learning timing is everything," he said. "Everything has to be promoted the right way. Before, it would take a couple of weeks for a single to pick up. Now it takes months. It's a whole different ballgame. 50 is a smart decision-maker, and we have to figure out the right way to put out the album. We got some fire, and we're bringing something new to hip-hop." ...

Re-Up Gang Speaks

You don't know how many conversations the Mixtape Monday and MTV News fam has had with the Clipse and our friends at Jive Records (Roberta, we see ya) about putting out a video for "Trill" from the Brothers Thornton's last classic, Hell Hath No Fury. The record is way too hot to be just an album cut.

But as Skateboard P would say, "Cot-damn — it's a new day." The Clipse, as you know, are on a new label, Sony Music.

"It's everything it's supposed to be," Pusha T told us last week. He and his brother are loving their new situation. "It's the new year. It's a Re-Up Gang new year. It's war. It's the spirit of competition."

Speaking of which, that happens to be the name of the new LP by the Re-Up Gang, which consists of the Clipse, Ab-Liva and Sandman (loved you in "Spidey 3"! Just playin', homie). They're calling the effort We Got It 4 Cheap Vol. 3: The Spirit of Competition.
"Who do I see as competition for us?" Malice grinned. "None. I don't feel it's anybody out there who do what we do and is as thorough as my crew. That's how we feel about it.

"We been selecting tracks for a minute," Mal added, "trying to figure out what beats were relevant and what beats made sense. We took it back to [Raekwon and Ghostface's] 'Rainy Dayz,' [Ruff Ryders'] 'Scenario 2000.' The beats are hot."

The Gang also brought it up to date by rhyming over Jay-Z's "Roc Boys" and Shawty Lo's "Dey Know."

"You can tell we're such fans of the record, the music that came before us," Pusha said. "So much so, we be like, 'Damn, we gotta get on that sh--.' "

Spirit of Competition, according to the fellas, is just the commencement of their '08 smackdown. The Re-Up Gang's official album is coming this spring (Pusha says in March) with the Clipse's third LP launching this summer.

"I can't do no more records for that," Pusha said of the yet-untitled Re-Up album. "I have to wait for [Sony executive] [Kyambo] 'Hip Hop' [Joshua] to round out the album with his A&R-ing. That's something I never had before. ... Then the Clipse album is the baby. That's not done. So that could be the focus coming into the summer, as well as the solo projects.

"[Kyambo] and [his crew] have definitely proven themselves," he added. "We both love the same in hip-hop music: very lyric-driven guys. Hip Hop comes from a camp where the criteria for rap is high. I think we've mastered that."

Thanks

Thanks for a quarter million+ views in a few months. Not bad for a blogspot page...

If anyone has any time or would like to contribute...I'm accepting new Banners for the top of the page and new html layouts for the site. I'm not too familiar with layouts and html so creativity is definitely a plus. If you have any submissions or any questions on exactly what I'm looking for, leave a comment underneath the post and/or send me an email at hiphopupdate@gmail.com

I've also been sending out various beats to people who have been emailing me. Again, they are ORIGINAL tracks made by my boy and I. If I get enough tracks back, I may throw together a Hip Hop Update compilation album, free to download.

Thanks

Mary J Blige, Others Targeted for Steroid Use !!!?!
PATCHOGUE -- The names of R&B music star Mary J. Blige, along with rap artists 50 Cent, Timbaland and Wyclef Jean, and award-winning author and producer Tyler Perry, have emerged in an Albany-based investigation of steroids trafficking that has already rocked the professional sports world, according to confidential sources.

Information has surfaced recently showing those stars are among tens of thousands of people who may have used or received prescribed shipments of steroids and injectable human growth hormone in recent years. Law enforcement officials have said they have no evidence in their sprawling multistate probe that customers, including Blige or other entertainers, violated any laws. Instead, they are targeting anti-aging clinics, doctors and pharmacists who prescribed the drugs.

Still, medical experts say that use of steroids and human growth hormone -- an estimated $10 billion-a-year operation worldwide -- reaching into the entertainment industry illustrates how pervasive steroids use in the United States has become. It is not unique to athletics, where performance-enhancing drug use has marred many sports. For many celebrities, the lure of hormonal drugs is their supposed, unproven anti-aging effects.

Read the rest here

So, anyone who has muscle mass and looks young for their age is now accused of being on steroids? Interesting...

Last month Al Nasr, a Basketball team in Kuwait signed up American center John Francis Smith to play for their team. Well John is in Kuwait now and he’s made a video of the apartment the team has given him. It looks really nasty and very old, I don’t think I could even spend a night there yet alone live there. Its a really shitty place and he’s really really pissed.

Rick Ross & Birdman Album Coming...

Rick Ross has already been promising his upcoming Trilla to be "one of the best albums of '08," but the Slip-N-Slide/Def Jam blockbuster release, along with his upcoming Mi-Yayo DVD aren't the only things keeping the 30 year-old busy.

"Me and Birdman are working on an album and a movie at the same time," Ross told HipHopDX yesterday from his traveling tour bus. "We just feed the streets. Me being a fan of the hustle - the grind, [Birdman and I] have the same attitude and hunger coming from streets. He feels the same about me, you already know. We just went in the studio for the hood."

Ross said that it was too early to confirm the project's title, label or release date, but said that 2008 was likely, after the release of his upcoming album - already backed by the single "Speedin'" and another effort from Carol City Cartel.

New Wiz Khalifa Single
One of my favorite up and comers jackin beats and creatin some smooth ish...He also shot a video for this that should be out soon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Ja Rule Track
Is Ja back in the game for good? You decide...Here he samples the beatles, similar to Talib Kweli's mixtape track ("Lonely People") a few years back. Unfortunately, the Beatles rarely let artists sample their music, so chances are this won't make it on the album
